Electrical Installation Condition Reports

Electrical Installation Condition Reports

What is an electrical installation condition report?

There are a number of reasons why you may need an electrical installation condition report, such as when buying, selling or letting a property. Evaluation of the condition of an installation after a fire or flood, or when a previous electrical certificate or report comes to an end.

The five main aims of the condition report are:

  • record the results of the inspection and testing to make sure the electrical installation is safe to be used until the next inspection (following any work needed to make it safe)
  • identify any damage and wear and tear that may compromise safety, and report it
  • identify any parts of the electrical installation that do not meet the IEE Wiring Regulations
  • help identify anything that may cause electric shocks and high temperatures, which can lead to deaths, burns, fires and other injuries
  • provide an important record of the installation at the time of the inspection, and for inspection and testing in the future
